KIVA IS
EXCELLING!
The Arizona Department of Education has
announced that Kiva has been awarded the highest label under AZ Learns, the
state's accountability measure for schools. Congratulations, and thanks to
the Kiva faculty and staff for their hard work!
Dear Kiva Families,On behalf of the Kiva PTO Board, we are pleased to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning families! The Kiva PTO is a non-profit 501c3 organization created for the sole purpose of helping the school meet its goals in educating our children. Every family who has a child attending Kiva is a member of the PTO. Through various fundraisers held throughout the year, 100% of the proceeds generated are put back into the school to support our mission. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of our accomplishments from last year:
Gifted over $80,000 to support:
Accelerated Reader (AR)
Literacy Tutor
General School Assistants (Playground Aides/Kindergarten Aides)
Lunchtime Intramural Assistants (Boys & Girls Club)
New computers for PACT
Gifted $300 (over $9,000) to each classroom teacher to supplement the classroom supply budget set by SUSD
Installed audio/video technology in all classrooms
Continued with student and family favorites such as Kiva Corner, Honors Luncheon, Hearts & Hospitality, Picture Day, Pride Day, Pancake Breakfast, Yearbook, Community Recognition, Brick Fundraiser, Gifts & Goodies, Family Fun Night, Carnival, Masterpiece Art and Art Walk
Added the “Kiva’s Got Talent” Talent Show
Added $10,000 of new books in the Kiva Library
Signed up over 500 families to receive the Kiva Caller via email, reducing our paper usage by over 20,000 pieces of paperThese wonderful programs and activities would not be possible without your support. We encourage you to get involved with Kiva PTO. Check out the Kiva PTO website, www.kivapto.org, to help keep you informed of the latest activities. The website will provide online information allowing Kiva parents to stay in touch with all activities, events, announcements and communications related to your child's school. Also, we are asking every family to enter their email address in the “Join our email list” box. This will not only ensure you receive future communications, but will allow you to change your preferences of what information you want to receive. You’ll definitely want to “re-enroll” to reflect your classroom assignments for the new year.Volunteers are always needed and appreciated and all donations are tax deductible. Your involvement in your child’s education will provide a great way for you to become better acquainted with your school and other Kiva families.Regards,Kevin J. Berk & Pam Kirby
